How it works
Cut Corners pairs the catalog with its own computer-vision engine to detect the edges of the frame. Everything runs locally on your machine.
Select a roll, pick your film type
Color negative, B&W negative, slide, already-inverted scans — or auto-detect for mixed rolls. Format presets cover 35mm full and half frame, XPan, 120 (6×4.5 to 6×9), and 4×5.
The engine finds each frame
Per-image detection characterizes the rebate tone, masks scanner background and sprocket holes, fits the frame rectangle, and snaps each edge to the sub-pixel rebate transition.
Crops apply in one undoable step
Every crop is a normal Lightroom develop setting — fully non-destructive, editable in the Crop tool, reversible with a single Undo. Frames it isn't sure about are left untouched and labeled so you can finish the stragglers by hand.

Does Cut Corners work with Negative Lab Pro?
Yes — they are made for each other. Run Cut Corners first (or after) to batch crop and straighten the roll, then convert with Negative Lab Pro (or Grain2Pixel, FilmLab, or manual curves). Removing the film border and scanner background before conversion keeps them from skewing the color analysis.
Does it work with camera scans (DSLR or mirrorless scanning)?
Yes. Camera scanning, flatbed scanners, and dedicated film scanners all work — detection only needs the film rebate (border) visible around the frame. Scanner beds, film holders, and sprocket holes are masked out automatically.
Which film formats are supported?
35mm full frame and half frame, XPan panoramic, 120 medium format (6×4.5, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9), 4×5 large format, or a custom aspect ratio. Color negatives, black-and-white negatives, and slides are all supported.
Does it upload my scans anywhere?
No. Detection runs entirely on your machine and the plugin makes no network requests — no uploads, no account, no subscription.
